Find Emails From Last Week in Gmail
You can locate messages you received last week in Gmail using the Search feature on the web and in the Android or iPhone app in a similar way.
On Desktop
- Select All Mail in the left-hand menu or a particular label if you prefer.
- Open the Any time drop-down box at the top and pick Custom range.
- Choose the Start date and End date for last week’s dates.
- Press Apply.
On Mobile
- Tap the hamburger (three horizontal lines) icon to open the left-hand menu and select All Mail.
- Open the Date drop-down box at the top and pick Custom range.
- Choose the From date and To date for last week’s dates.
- Press OK.
📌 Tip: In Gmail, you will have to check all your emails together as there is no intuitive automatic email filtering or sorting. And what if you receive hundreds of emails a day? Take advantage of using Clean Email’s Smart Folders, which serve as preset smart ‘labels’ to separate your messages (such as Online Shopping, Social Notifications, Dating Apps, and more). Once you choose a Smart Folder, you can further sort these emails from newest to oldest.
Find Emails From Last Week in Outlook
If you’re a Microsoft Outlook user, you can find emails from last week in the New Outlook on desktop, Outlook.com, or on Android or iPhone using Outlook’s search operator.
- Select a mailbox or specific folder in the left-hand menu.
- Enter the following search operator in the Search box at the top: received:“last week”
- Press Enter, Return, or Search.
📌 Tip: In Clean Email, emails are sorted by date by default. Simply open the All Mail or Inbox folder to see your emails grouped by sender and arranged in chronological order. This allows you to easily review emails from the past week without searching for them. You can also open each sender's group to see not only their latest email but also any earlier messages.
Find Missing Emails From Last Week
While it’s easy enough to show emails from last week that you received, it may be recently misplaced messages you need to find. Most times, missing emails appear in the Archive, Trash, or Spam folder.
Let’s take a look at how to do this in Clean Email, Gmail, and Outlook.
Find Recent Missing Emails in Clean Email
In Clean Email, you can search for lost messages in the Archive, Trash, and Spam folders. Simply open any of these folders to view your messages sorted by date and conveniently grouped by sender. No extra steps are needed to find your lost emails from last week!
- Select Archive, Trash, or Spam in the menu.
- Look for the misplaced messages. For instance, you may have accidentally deleted an important message while cleaning your inbox, or your spam filter may have mistakenly marked the email as spam.
- When found, select the message(s) and choose the Restore option in the action bar below. Alternatively, select More → Move… and choose a destination folder.
- You can then sort your messages differently: select the Sort control (Newest on Top) and choose another option to find exactly what you're looking for.
You’ll then see your email threads grouped by day, month, or year. Choose the most current month to see the messages within it from the previous week.
Find Recent Missing Emails in Gmail
In Gmail, you can search the Trash and Spam folders (labels). However, there is only an Archive label, no location in the menu, making it harder to find archived messages in Gmail.
- Select Trash or Spam in the menu.
- Open the Any time or Date drop-down box at the top and pick Custom range.
- Choose the Start date and End date for last week’s dates.
- Press Apply or OK.
You should see messages received during your selected dates in Gmail. Continue this process for the other Gmail labels until you find the emails you need. Remember, Trash and Spam are automatically emptied after 30 days.
📌 Tip: If you believe a lost email may be labeled as Archive, use the earlier instructions to find it in your Gmail account quickly using the Clean Email app on the web, desktop, and mobile!
Find Recent Missing Emails in Outlook
In Outlook on desktop or the web, you can sort the Archive, Deleted Items, and Junk Email folders to find missing messages. You can then filter the emails so that the ones from last week appear first.
- Select Archive, Deleted Items, or Junk Email in the menu.
- Open the Filter on the top right and move to Sort.
- Below Sort by, choose Date.
- Below Sort order, choose Newest on top.
You should then see emails sorted by date. Continue this process for the remaining folders until you find those missing messages and recover any deleted emails as needed. Remember, Junk Email is automatically emptied after 30 days.
In Outlook on mobile, you’ll need a different process to find recently missing messages because you cannot sort like you can in the Outlook desktop and web apps.
- Select Archive, Deleted, or Junk in the menu.
- In the Search box at the top, use the “received” search operator for the timeframe. For example, to see missing messages from last week in the folder, enter: received:“last week”
- Press Search.
📌 Tip: Consider using the Clean Email mobile app instead of Outlook on your device to quickly and easily locate those recently lost emails without search terms.
Find Old Emails Easily With Clean Email
There are times when the messages we need are older than “last week.” And while Gmail and Outlook offer ways to search for older messages, Clean Email gives you a faster and more efficient process.
You can select your Inbox, All Mail, or any folder in the menu. Then, simply use the Old Mail filter at the top to pick the time frame.
With over 15 built-in time periods, you can display emails older than one day, two weeks, six months, or even ten years! You can then group by any parameter and show the newest or oldest at the top (and more!).
Clean Email also allows you to quickly see large emails, read or unread messages, and emails sent by automated systems or mailing lists — all with a simple click!
And remember, all features are available and work the same way in the desktop, web, and mobile apps on Android and iPhone.
