How To Select All In Yahoo Mail

Written by Megan Glosson

Are you feeling buried under too many emails in your Yahoo inbox? You’re not the only one. The good news is that Yahoo Mail has a simple "Select All" option that makes it easier to handle large groups of emails at once.

Is Your Yahoo Inbox Overflowing?

Yahoo Mail users are feeling more overwhelmed than ever. In July 2025, Yahoo dramatically reduced its generous storage: free accounts dropped from 1 TB down to just 20 GB, while Yahoo Mail Plus shrank from 5 TB to 200 GB. By August 27, 2025, these limits became fully active, and anyone exceeding them instantly lost the ability to send or receive emails until they cleared space or upgraded.

With hundreds of messages pouring in daily, many users say the change feels impossible to keep up with. The inbox fills fast, and the pressure to delete or organize emails takes more time than most people can spare. That’s why knowing how to select all messages quickly — and remove them in bulk — is no longer just a convenience but often the only way to regain space and keep your account usable.

How To Select All Emails In Yahoo

In order to organize Yahoo Mail, you must first learn how to select the messages you want to move, delete, or label, whether you want to do it through webmail or the mobile app.

How to Select All in Yahoo Mail on the Web

  1. Go to https://mail.yahoo.com/ and log in to your account.
  2. From your inbox, click the checkbox. (It’s the checkbox above the messages and below the search bar.)
  3. Select All in Yahoo Mail on the Web
  4. Next to the checkbox, click on the down arrow and push All to select all messages.
  5. To the right of the message list, you will see how many messages are selected.

💡 Note: If you notice that not all emails are selected, you can scroll down until you find an unchecked message, then click the checkbox to deselect and reselect all messages. Also, keep in mind that Yahoo will only let you select up to 10,000 emails at a time. Since July 2025, Yahoo has been rolling out major changes, including new storage limits (20 GB for free accounts, 200 GB for Mail Plus), and future updates could further impact how inbox size and selection limits work.

How to Select All in Yahoo Mail App on Mobile

  1. Open the Yahoo mobile app.
  2. Click the empty checkbox near the top message in your inbox. This will start the selection tool.
  3. In the upper right of the screen, tap Select All.
  4. This will select all emails in your inbox.

How to Select All Unread on Mobile

  1. Open the Yahoo Mail app.
  2. Swipe through the tabs at the top of the screen and choose Unread.
  3. Tap the empty checkbox next to the first unread message.
  4. If you have many unread messages, tap Select All in the upper-right corner to select them all.
  5. Once selected, choose the action you want from the bottom menu.

💡 Note: Just like the webmail version, you can only select up to 10,000 total messages at a time in the mobile application. This and other Yahoo tips can help you maintain an organized inbox.

💡 Tip: Deleting emails only moves them to the Trash folder. To actually free up storage, you’ll need to empty the Trash manually or wait 30 days for Yahoo to remove them automatically.

Deselect All in Yahoo Mobile App

  1. After selecting one or more messages, look to the upper-right corner of the screen.
  2. Tap Deselect to clear all selected emails.
  3. Even though no emails are selected anymore, you’re still in Manage Emails mode.
  4. To fully exit this mode and return to your normal inbox view, tap the X (cross icon) in the same corner.
  5. You’ll now be back at the start list of all your emails.

💡 Tip: If you only tap Deselect, Yahoo keeps you in Manage Emails mode — which can be confusing. Always finish by tapping the cross icon if you want to return to browsing your inbox normally.

Select All Unread in Yahoo Mail on the Web

  1. Log in to your mail account.
  2. From your inbox, click the checkbox. (It’s the checkbox above the emails and below the search bar.)
  3. Next to the checkbox, click on the down arrow and push Unread to highlight all unread messages.
  4. To the right of the message list, you will see how many emails are selected.

Select All Messages From a Sender in Yahoo Mail

When you click all emails, you will notice that you can only choose all, unread, read, starred, and unstarred. However, you can use Yahoo search operators to select all messages from a specific sender.

  1. Log into your inbox.
  2. Locate the search bar at the top of your mailbox.
  3. Type the sender’s address into the search bar.
  4. Now, use the checkbox to select all messages from that sender. Then you can choose to archive, delete, move them, and more.

How To Select Multiple Emails In Yahoo

  1. Log into your mail inbox.
  2. Find a message you want to choose, and click the checkbox to highlight it.
  3. Select Multiple Emails In Yahoo
  4. Scroll up or down to choose any additional messages you’d like. To check a whole group of messages, you can press Shift + Click to highlight all the emails in a space.

How to Select More Than 10,000 Emails in Yahoo Mail at Once

If your Yahoo inbox has been piling up for years, selecting just 10,000 emails at a time can feel endless. And with Yahoo’s new 20 GB free storage limit (200 GB for Mail Plus), hitting that ceiling happens much faster than before. When your mailbox is overflowing, you don’t have time to keep repeating the same process again and again — you just need everything under control.

That’s where Clean Email comes in. Unlike Yahoo Mail, which caps bulk actions at 10,000 messages, Clean Email lets you select your entire inbox in one go. This way you can:

Here’s how to use Clean Email to select more than 10,000 emails at once:

  1. Open the Clean Email app.
  2. In the left-side menu, click All Mail.
  3. Click on the icon of any email — or tap the Select button at the bottom — and choose Select All.
  4. Once all emails are selected, pick the action you want: delete, move, archive, or set up an Auto Clean rule.

💡 Tip: After cleaning, turn on Screener so only approved senders can reach your inbox. This prevents new spam or unknown messages from filling up your storage again.
