However, every client application handles these issues a bit differently, which means knowing how to stop unwanted emails in Gmail won’t help you if you’re needing to know how to stop unwanted emails in Yahoo Mail.

So, if you use Yahoo Mail, you’ll want to learn how to stop Yahoo spam emails so you can regain control of your inbox.

How To Stop Yahoo Spam Emails

Believe it or not, learning how to stop getting junk email on Yahoo is not a hard task. In fact, there are several things you can do to remove or block these messages, including mark messages as spam, unsubscribe from mass mailings, block known spam addresses, and train your spam filter.

1. Mark As Spam

The quickest way to stop Yahoo spam emails is by marking any messages you know are spam as such. Luckily, Yahoo makes it easy to mark individual messages or entire groups of messages as junk on both the webmail platform and the Yahoo Mail mobile app.

To mark as spam from Yahoo webmail:

1. Login to your mail account.
2. After your inbox loads, select the messages that are junk. You can select them by checking the box on the left of the sender’s name.
3. Once the messages are marked, click on Spam in the upper right.
4. This will move all of the checked messages to your Spam Folder.

To mark as spam from Yahoo Mobile:

1. Open the app on your mobile device.
2. From the Inbox view, tap the empty checkbox on the far left of each message you want to mark as spam.
3. Once you have selected all the messages, tap More in the toolbar at the bottom.
4. Select Mark as spam from the options.
5. Now all of the messages you flagged will appear in your Spam folder.

2. Unsubscribe

If you’re looking for a method that will help you learn how to stop unwanted emails in Yahoo Mail so that they don’t clutter your inbox or your spam folder, then you may want to unsubscribe from emails on Yahoo.

To do this through Yahoo Webmail, simply:

1. Login to Yahoo Mail.
2. After your inbox loads, select the messages that are junk. You can select them by checking the box on the left of the sender’s name.
3. Once the messages are marked, click on More next to Spam in the top toolbar.
4. Select Unsubscribe from the dropdown menu.
5. A dialog box will appear and explain the process to you. Click Unsubscribe within the box to finalize the decision.

To do this through the Yahoo mobile app:

1. Open the Yahoo app.
2. Tap on an email from your inbox to open it.
3. Tap the More Icon.
4. Tap Unsubscribe.
5. A message will appear that says “Unsubscribe Request Sent” to let you know it went through.

Obviously, this process is time-consuming and only unsubscribes you from individual mailing lists. It doesn’t always stop all emails or remove you completely. For this reason, we also recommend you consider using Unsubscriber from Clean Email to get rid of newsletters and promotional emails you no longer want or move them to a dedicated ‘Read Later’ folder.

To unsubscribe from messages while using Clean Email:

1. Go to https://app.clean.email/ and login.
2. Select Unsubscriber from the available tools on the left-side panel.
3. Once you’re in the Unsubscriber tool, you will see a list of every email address you receive messages from. For each one you don’t wish to receive messages from, you can press Unsubscribe on the right.

4. That’s it! Clean Email will take care of the rest!

3. Block

Unfortunately, not all spam emails are newsletters or promotional messages from companies. In fact, many junk messages aren’t from companies, but from individuals who are trying to gain access to your personal information. For this reason, you may also want to know how to block emails on Yahoo as a way to stop Yahoo spam emails.

Here’s how to block someone on Yahoo Mail through the webmail app:

Method 1

1. Login to your Yahoo Mail account.
2. From the inbox, click Settings (gear icon at the far right of the ribbon).
3. Select More Settings.
4. On the left side, select Security and privacy. Now, you’ll see a section labeled Blocked addresses.
5. Press Add button and type in the email address you want to block. Then, press Save.

Method 2

1. Select the message that you want to block by checking the box on the left of the sender’s name.
2. Once the messages are marked, click on More (three dots) next to Spam in the top toolbar.
3. Select Block senders from the dropdown menu.
4. A dialog box will appear and ask you to verify your decision to block this sender. You will be asked if you want to block all future emails and delete all existing ones.

Unfortunately, Yahoo Mail does limit the number of individual addresses and domains you can block within their system. But, you can also use Clean Email to block all emails from a specific domain.

To block a specific domain, you need to:

1. Go to Clean Email, log in, and click the Auto Clean feature from the left-side panel.
2. Press Create Rule button.
3. Name the rule at the top and click Any sender or recipients.
4. In the proposed list, choose Sender Domain.
5. Start typing the domain in the search box under the Sender Domain and choose the domain you are looking for.
6. Choose the action you want to apply to these emails, e.g. send them to Trash.
7. Press Create Rule. Now, all emails from this domain (no matter how many senders are spamming you) will be sent to Trash right after they hit your inbox.

4. Train Yahoo Spam Filter

When you train a spam filter, you essentially help it learn what messages are spam and which ones are not. This means you need to move any unwanted email into the Spam folder and move any falsely marked messages out of the Spam folder and back to your Inbox.
