Remove a Signature From Gmail on the Web
Even though you can set up multiple signatures in Gmail for different purposes, you may want to sign each message manually or send emails without these closings at all. Luckily, removing a signature from Gmail is easy.
Visit Gmail, sign in, and follow these steps:
- Select the Settings button (gear) on the top right.
- Pick See all settings in the sidebar.
- Go to the General tab.
- Move down to the Signature section and click Delete signature (trash can) next to the one you want to remove.
- Confirm with Delete in the pop-up window.
- Click Save Changes at the bottom.
To remove a signature from Gmail reply or forward emails only, do the following instead:
- Follow Steps 1 through 3 above to open the Signature settings.
- In the FOR NEW EMAILS USE drop-down menu, pick the closing you want to use.
- In the ON REPLY/FORWARD USE drop-down menu, pick No signature.
- Click Save Changes.

Remove a WiseStamp Signature From Gmail
The process for removing a WiseStamp signature from Gmail depends on how you initially added it. Follow the instructions below per your WiseStamp implementation method.
Using Google Connect
- Go to your Google account by clicking your profile icon at the top and choosing Manage your Google Account.
- Select Security on the left and See all connections in the Third-Party Apps & Services section.
- Choose WiseStamp.
- Click Delete all connections you have with WiseStamp and Confirm when prompted.
Using Copy and Paste or Google Connect

Using the Chrome Extension
- Open Google Chrome, click the three dots on the top right, and pick Extensions → Manage Extensions.
- Locate the WiseStamp add-on and click Remove.
- Follow the subsequent prompts to complete the process.
Remove a Signature From Gmail on Android
With the Gmail app open on your Android device, follow the steps below to delete the signature.
- Open the left-hand menu using the three lines on top left.
- Select Settings.
- Choose your account if you have more than one.
- Tap Mobile signature.
- Delete the text in the pop-up window and tap OK.
📌 After you remove and then view the mobile setting, you should see it appear as “Not set” as shown above.
Remove a Signature From Gmail on iPhone
Note that removing the signature on iPhone only deletes the mobile closing you created. Without a mobile signature set, Gmail uses the one in the Settings on the web.
Open the Gmail app on your iPhone and follow these steps to delete the signature:
- Choose your account if you have more than one using the profile icon on the top right.
- Open the left-hand menu using the three lines on top left.
- Select Settings.
- Tap Signature settings.
- Turn off the toggle for Mobile Signature.
- Tap Done.

How to Remove an Email Signature From Gmail
Maybe you don’t want to completely remove your signature, but simply delete it from the current email. Whether a new message, forward, or a reply, here’s how to remove an email signature from the Gmail app on the web and your mobile device.
Gmail on the Web
You can delete the closing that automatically displays in an email either before or after you compose your message in Gmail on the web.
In the message window, select the Insert signature button (pen) in the bottom toolbar and pick No signature. Alternatively, you can manually delete the text.
Gmail Mobile App
While you won’t find a button to remove a signature in the Gmail mobile app, you can still delete it, and do so the same way on Android and iPhone.
In the message window, place your cursor at the end of the signature and tap the Backspace key on your keyboard until the text is removed. Alternatively, you can tap and drag to select the text and then delete it.
