Keep the Promotions Tab Clean

If you use Gmail, you may notice a unique tab in your mailbox labeled Promotions. Gmail automatically identifies certain messages as promotions and applies the Promotions label to them. The Promotions tab simply displays messages with that label.

Creating an Auto Clean Rule to Clean Promotions Messages

You can also create an Auto Clean rule to automatically clean everything on the Gmail Promotions tab for you.

To do this, use the filter option in the rule configuration dialog to filter for messages with the label Promotions. You might also want to apply a filter for messages older than a certain age, to allow time for you to view and deal with any messages that might have been incorrectly labeled by Gmail.

⚠️ Caution: Auto Clean is a powerful feature that lets you control exactly what is to be cleaned and how often. Once you have set it up, it will run automatically and follow your exact instructions–even if you made a mistake setting it up. Therefore, it is important to use caution when creating new Auto Clean rules.
