History
The History page lets you review all cleaning actions that have been performed by Clean Email in your mailbox in the past 30 days, including automatic actions and actions you have manually taken.
It’s a good idea to periodically check the cleaning history, to make sure that messages are being cleaned as you intend.
📌 Note: By default, Clean Email will also send you periodic summary notifications of all messages that have been cleaned automatically by Clean Email. For more information about these notifications, please see Action History Summary.
Using the History tool, you can preview the specific messages that have been cleaned and understand what process caused them to be cleaned. If you ever have concerns that certain messages you would expect to receive are no longer appearing in your inbox, you should check the History tool to see if those messages have been cleaned by Clean Email. If they have been, History will show specifically what caused the messages to be cleaned.

You can click the bell icon at the top of the page to jump to the Notifications page and manage your Action History Summary notifications.
You can also control the Action History Summary notifications right from the History page, using the drop-down selector in the Notifications area of the page.
Searching for a Specific Message
If you need to identify whether or not Clean Email has cleaned a specific message, you can use the search box at the top of page to search for the message. Enter the sender name, email address, or subject line of the message you want to find. As you type, Clean Email automatically filters the list of cleaning tasks.
📌 Note: Remember, the History tool only shows cleaning tasks that have occurred in the past 30 days. Messages that were cleaned more than 30 days ago do not appear here.
If Clean Email has cleaned any matching messages in the past 30 days, they will appear in the search results. Click the matching cleaning task to preview the messages included in the task.
To clear the search results, simply delete the contents of the search field or click the X at the right-hand side of the field.
Reviewing Cleaning History
For each cleaning task listed in the History tool, Clean Email displays an icon for the sender and an icon showing the specific cleaning action that was taken.
Above the sender name, you can see the specific source of the cleaning action and more details about which action was taken:
- Auto Clean - The message(s) were cleaned automatically via an Auto Clean rule. For more information, please see Creating and Editing Auto Clean Rules.
- Sender Settings - The message(s) were cleaned automatically via a Sender Settings rule (e.g., move the sender’s messages to the trash). For more information, please see Sender Settings.
- Unsubscriber - The messages were cleaned as a result of Unsubscriber settings. For more information, please see Unsubscriber.
- You - You cleaned the messages manually using Clean Email.
For messages cleaned by Auto Clean rules or Sender Settings, a button appears to the right of the message’s sender:
You can click the button to directly open the rule or setting that caused the messages in that task to be cleaned automatically.
Or, click the task to see previews of the messages that were cleaned.
Previewing Messages That Have Been Cleaned
To preview the messages that have been cleaned, click the task. A preview of the messages that were cleaned appears in the right-hand pane.
At the top of the right-hand pane, you can access and modify the specific configuration options for the rule that cleaned the messages.
By default, Clean Email displays message previews in a compact format. If you want to see more detail about the messages, click the Compact drop-down and select Detailed.
By default, the messages in the preview pane are sorted by processing date, with the most recent messages at the top of the list. You can optionally click Processing date and choose to have the messages sorted by sender name or email address instead.
Above each message in the group, you can see how long ago the message was processed.
In case the message is no longer in your mailbox (e.g., if the action taken was “Delete” rather than “Trash”), the message body cannot be previewed.
