What Is the Gmail Unsubscribe Tool?

Definition

💡 The Gmail unsubscribe tool is a link in the header of an email allowing the recipient to remove themself from the sender’s mailing list. When you click Unsubscribe, you receive a pop-up message asking you to confirm or visit the company’s website to confirm your request.

What does the Gmail unsubscribe tool do?

When you click the Gmail unsubscribe tool and receive the pop-up message, you can do one of two things. The available options depend on the email sender’s settings.

  • Select Unsubscribe. Gmail then sends an unsubscribe request to the email sender.
  • Select Go to website. You’re then directed to the sender’s website to complete the unsubscribe process.
