💡 A list-unsubscribe header is an email header that allows recipients to unsubscribe without having to click an unsubscribe link. It’s an embedded link that’s easily found in the email’s heading.
List-unsubscribe headers benefit both senders and recipients. They make it easier for recipients to opt out of email campaigns. At the same time, they protect the sender’s reputation by reducing spam complaints and the number of unsubscribes.
Gmail list-unsubscribe header
If you’re using Gmail, hover your pointer to a marketing email. You’ll see the Unsubscribe button on the Gmail window right next to the message you’re pointing to.
Alternatively, you can click on the message to view the header. Next to it, you’ll find the Unsubscribe button.
Outlook list-unsubscribe header
Similar to Gmail, Outlook also uses list-unsubscribe headers. Outlook incorporates this button in the header by identifying messages that contain a “list-unsubscribe” URL in their metadata.
Yahoo list-unsubscribe header
Like the abovementioned email service providers, Yahoo Mail also provides users with a one-click unsubscribe option. Yahoo Mail also has a Subscription Hub that makes it easier for users to unsubscribe from certain emails.
